What is Nutritional Therapy?

“Let food be thy medicine, and medicine by thy food.” - Hippocrates

Nutritional Therapy’s philosophy is centered around the idea that real health can be achieved through a holistic and individualized approach to nutrition and lifestyle, and the body has the innate ability to heal itself.

The Foundations of Functional Health

Nutritional Therapists focus on the foundations of functional health by taking a look at the body as whole, not just addressing a symptom. These foundations include a properly prepared, nutrient dense, whole food diet, digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acids, minerals and hydration.

Bio-Individual Approach

Nutritional Therapy includes a bio-individual approach, meaning it’s not a one size fits all solution. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, it is my role to help each client find the right combination of whole foods and lifestyle adjustments that will restore balance and enhance their own body’s ability to heal. This is not another fad diet. It’s a sustainable solution. Nutritional Therapy is the education we never received on how to take care of our body properly, so that we can feel our best.

Lifestyle Factors

In addition to focusing on nutrient dense whole foods, Nutritional Therapy addresses lifestyle factors such as the sourcing of our food, culinary skills, meal planning, barriers, influences, emotional well-being, environmental factors, the importance of sleep and movement, as well as stress and it’s effects on the body.
